Quiz Night

The Blacksmiths Arms was packed with local quizzers. Brains were wracked and answers given in an atmosphere of good natured rivalry - all fuelled by excellent ale and a Pie & Peas supper provided by Pete & Hils.

In aid of raising funds for NSPCC and Macmlllan Cancer charities, the evening raised £550. Thanks to Marge Yaxley for setting the questions and acting as quizzmistress. She handled the rowdier teams with ease and the whole evening was hugely enjoyable for all concerned.

Good luck to the runners who will be generating even more money for charity in The Great North Run.

Call My Bluff

There was much laughter and friendly rivalry as teams attempted to identify a variety of mystery wines in a blind tasting. Most managed to identify whether it was white, red or rose but, beyond that, a certain amount of inspired guesswork was needed. The Call My Bluff format added to the hilarity of the evening, courtesy of panellists Julie, Paul & Simon.

A huge thank you must go to all of the committee members and organisers for all of their hard work in providing a wonderful spread that helped to mop-up the wine.
