….. to get to Julie Marks’s field.
If you are missing some hens, give Julie a call on 417058 as they are currently browsing in her garden.
Having established with government guidelines that carol singing is allowed to take place, Julie Marks is prepared to organise a small group of singers to go walkabout / singabout on either Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd December. If you would like to participate, contact Julie on 417817 or via email: pmarks4550@aol.com
Equally, if you would rather not have a group of people singing all over you at this time, please let Julie know and they will avoid your front door.

As we enter another period of lockdown, Pete at The Blacksmith’s Arms is once again there to help out by offering to use his catering suppliers to take orders for meat, fish and bakery products. He is not offering the full Arkwright experience that was available during the prolonged lockdown of springtime but he has said that he will not see anyone ‘run short’. To find out exactly what is on offer, contact Pete on 01751-417247.
In addition to this, Hot Takeaway Food will be available 5.30 - 8.00pm on Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays. Pre-ordering is recommended.
Frozen Ready-Meals are also available at the same times.

Dear Resident
As the coronavirus situation in our country continues and we are seeing an increase in cases again, it was suggested at the recent Village Meeting AGM that we reignite the community support network. Again, there is a potential need to help our more vulnerable residents, those who become ill or those advised to self isolate.
I will assume that those who were willing and able to offer help before still feel the same, so please let me know if this is not the case and I’ll remove you from the list. During the lockdown we bought food and essentials for people isolated at home, fetched prescriptions from the pharmacies, posted parcels, made friendly phone calls and banked cheques. Also on the list of services people offered was dog walking and delivering ready prepared meals.
It was a simple task of matching requests for help with a volunteer. This was either done through me or on an individual basis. We had more volunteers than we had requests though so, if there is an arrangement between individuals, please be aware that there are others who can help out too if required.
If you do not wish to be included in any forum or email communication, please let me know (heatherwhite1912@gmail.com, 07748 020509).
I won’t circulate another flyer this time, so please pass this message on to anyone who is not on our village email circulation list.
If you have any good ideas that we’ve not yet thought of, again, please share them; otherwise, best wishes to all and let’s hope that the country gets on top of this situation as soon as possible.
Heather
Due to the continued vigilance required for the control of Covid-19 this meeting will be conducted with social distancing protocols between households and face-mask protection for the safety of all participants.

There is a proposal to do away with District Councils and make North Yorkshire a unitary authority in charge of everything. Please see the attached information from Keane Duncan, Leader of RDC by clicking here.
When you have read the attachment, you can make your views known by emailing Nick Thompson (nicholasthompsoncbe@gmail.com) and he will feed them into the consultation process on behalf of the village. You can also, of course, make your views known directly with RDC.
Sadly, due to the on-going situation with Covid-19, the village Sportsday Committee has reluctantly been forced to take the decision to cancel this year’s event. This is only the second time in the last 20 years that this has been done (the last cancellation was during the Foot & Mouth epidemic).
In light of struggling to maintain social distancing, the exertion of participating in the sports, the handling of equipment, the sharing of food and the reluctance of insurers, we cannot organise a satisfactory event this year.
All being well, the village sports will be back on next year again and, if anyone would like to volunteer to be part of our small sports day committee, new members would be very welcome.
It is by no means an onerous commitment. We usually meet once per year and then we are involved in the organisation on the day itself. If anyone is interested they can email heatherwhite1912@gmail.com or phone 07748 020509.
